By definition, the role of the booster organization is to “boost” the band program in a positive manner. The purpose of the South Fork Band Boosters is to advance the best interests of the South Fork High School bands by giving support as requested by the band director. All parents or guardians of students enrolled in the band program are members of the Band Boosters organization. Maintaining an active band program requires support and funding beyond that provided by the school system. The Band Boosters organization was formed in 1974 to provide this support. Activities include the following:

• Purchase and maintenance of uniforms
• Provision of funds for the purchase and repair of instruments and equipment
• Provision of funds for the purchase of music and supplies requested by director
• Furnishing chaperones/volunteers for band events
• Organization and implementation of fundraising activities
• Maintenance of website
• Encouragement of new parent involvement as well as seasoned parents
• Stimulate and maintain an enthusiastic interest and support for all phases of the band program.
• Support and advocacy for music programs in the public schools
