ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Welcome to the South Fork High School Band and Dynamics website. We are located in Stuart, Florida under the direction of Mr. Paul Marcucci. Dynamics is under the direction of Ms. Maureen Sapienza. The South Fork High School Band Program consists of 3 performing music ensembles: Concert Band, Symphonic Band, & Jazz Band as well as an elite color guard known as Dynamics. In the fall, all of these groups combine to form the Spirit & Pride Marching Band and compete in various competitions around the Treasure Coast.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Paul L. Marcucci received his BFA in Music Education from the Crane School of Music in 1981. In 1983, he was granted a full ethnomusicology scholarship from Cal Arts to study with Master Drummers from Africa, India, Indonesia and Brazil. While teaching on Long Island, he then went on to earn his Masters of Science from C.W. Post University in 1989. “Mr. M.” has recorded in studios, written articles and performed as a percussionist in Manhattan and throughout the surrounding metropolitan area with numerous Jazz, Rock, and Society Orchestras prior to his Florida relocation.
Paul began snare drum lessons at age 9 with a strict rudimental marching instructor. He then went on to study Big Band Jazz with Howie Mann (Dorsey Brothers, Nat King Cole) Rock with Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Rod Stewart) and Wind Ensemble with Anthony Maiello (George Mason University).
Mr. Marcucci’s proudest accomplishment was performing our National Anthem in Lake Placid at the 1980 Winter Olympics for both Eric Heiden’s record breaking 7th Gold Medal and the United States Hockey Team’s “Miracle on Ice” victory over the Soviet Union. He has been a dedicated public school teacher for 23 years and endeavors to share his many varied musical experiences with his students so that they may grow to be tolerant informed adults. His goal is to instill the highest levels of passion, technique and knowledge to his bands.
