Junior Year

 

  • Full-fledged IB student. 
  • Tests in foreign language and sixth subject. (May).
  • Running with the big dogs now.
  • Can not exit mid year.
  • Skinnies for all classes except foreign language and sixth subject.
  • Will complete internal assessments in
    •  science (lab books),
    • English (group orals),
    • foreign language (oral activities and taped oral),
    • math methods
    • sixth subject
  • Will write World Lit 1 and World Lit 2
  • Will begin Extended Essay in fall with deadlines throughout the year.
  • Should begin preliminary college search in fall/winter. Answer some surveys on-line to see how to begin thinking about how to look at colleges.  Use resources in Mrs. George’s office to begin to get an idea of what colleges appeal to the student.
  • Perhaps visit colleges during Spring Break or over the summer.
  • Take SAT at end of year (April date).
  • Is in first year of two-year courses in English, history, math and science (bio or chemistry).  IB test will cover material taught in both years.
  • Take PSAT in second week of October.  MUST SIGN UP FOR THIS TEST—NOT AUTOMATIC.
  • Seek leadership positions in clubs/teams. 
  • Continue to compete as possible in chosen subject area.
  • Establish rapport with teachers; they will be writing recommendation letters.
  • AP test in May in English.
